As you are aware work is well underway to develop the first Local Economic and Community Plan for Kildare. The general public are now invited to input into the plan from this week until Friday 11th September 2015. An extensive range of consultation and stakeholder engagement is planned over the coming weeks and months. I’d encourage you all to take a look at information provided in the links below, in particular the comprehensive baseline report produced with Maynooth University and also to carry out the short survey. A hardcopy of the report will be sent you next week.
How well do you know Kildare? Here are some interesting facts:
‘Kildare has grown by more than 70 percent in the last 20 years and is now home to five percent of Ireland’s total population. More than one in two of Kildare residents live in the ten largest towns. Over 40 percent of the total workforce work outside the county. Kildare now has the third youngest population in the state.’’
The consultation phase of the Kildare Local Economic and Community Plan 2016-2021 has now commenced. Kildare County Council wants your views on how factors like these impact your life. We would encourage you to carry out the following short survey (< 10 minutes) to help us know more about how people feel about living and working in Kildare: http://kildare.ie/countycouncil/lecpsurveyform/
A detailed baseline report has been prepared in conjunction with Maynooth University to inform the preparation of the plan – http://kildare.ie/CountyCouncil/KildareLECP/Kildare_LECP_EvidenceBaselineReport_2015.compressed.pdf The plan will use the findings of this report, the survey and other targeted consultation to help set out objectives and actions for economic and community development in the county over the next 6 years. To find out more and how else you can get involved go to http://kildare.ie/countycouncil/KildareLECP/
The consultation process will run until September 11th 2015. Please feel free to send this email to family and friends who live or work in Kildare.
